Many Things…

Have you ever sat quietly for a moment and considered all the “Many Things” that have been impressed upon you, that caused you to change direction, that forced you to look inward, that motivated you to keep going, that make you happy enough you can’t help but smile, that have made you who you are today? There are “Many Things”, too many to name. However, this is what I want you to know about me……

My love for numbers began with a data entry class in high school. I guess you could say I knew early on that this was something I wanted to do for a living. I found it fun and relatively easy. (I also found cross country running fun and relatively easy, but that’s a topic I’ll touch on one day in my blog!) Fast forward to college, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration; choosing this degree because it presented me with many avenues of career.

That career eventually led me to an automobile dealer in my hometown where I became their Payroll Clerk. At first, the role was a bit intimidating, as any little mistake could cost a fortune. Handling someone else’s pay, as well as managing the company’s payroll account…. stressful to say the least. Luck would have it, I made very few mistakes (that couldn’t be easily resolved) and improved on the processes enough to be able to take on additional responsibilities. Before I left the company after 5 years to move northward, I was their Office Manager, managing an office staff of 5 and processing payroll for approximately 100 employees.

Most of my experience after that remained in the automobile industry, working my way up to payrolls consisting of 750+ employees across the state. During this time, I expanded my knowledge of ADP and QuickBooks, processed weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles, paid hourly, salary and commission wages, tracked benefits and deductions of all sorts, and worked with HR and department managers at all levels.

In 2021, with the support of my husband, I decided to become a Virtual Assistant and open my own business. I left the corporate world entirely in April 2021 and formed Boultinghouse Virtual Services LLC, and my dba, The Payroll Mechanic. I could have chosen to do “Many Things” as a Virtual Assistant; however, it just seemed natural to focus on payroll. I have since expanded to virtually assist with most all office tasks.

As a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of managing my business well and working towards specific goals. I know for a fact that I cannot do it alone. I am thankful for the team of individuals who back me up, and for my husband, one of my biggest fans.

Sometimes “Many Things” can get overwhelming and keep you from doing what you love. Don’t let payroll or any other office task be one of those things. Maybe you need to add a new member to your team, someone you can trust to do “Many Things” for you efficiently and accurately. Let’s talk about it. No strings attached. It’s what I do. It’s what I love.
